David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage

Just 10 minutes away. Learn about the rescue, rehabilitation, and rewilding of orphaned elephants. Watch baby elephants being fed, playing in the mud, and preparing for life in the wild. Step next door into the 130-acre Giraffe Sanctuary for a peaceful morning or evening walk among acacia woodland. Watch giraffes, warthogs, and abundant birdlife in a setting that feels miles from the city. No vehicle needed. The sanctuary begins at Arimuni's garden edge.

Birdwatching at Arimuni

With over 84 recorded species, the gardens and surrounding woodland are a haven for birdlife. Sunbirds, hornbills, turacos, weavers, and owls are regular visitors. Early mornings on the veranda or rooftop terrace are the best time to watch, binoculars in hand.
